Town and Country Day Friday, May 2nd
Jordan's annual Town and Country Day is rapidly approaching. This year it will be held on Friday, May 2nd, and it is always a great way to support local business. This year, the Garfield County Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture will be hosting a few events during the day for all to attend. We are trying to help those buinesses and organizations without storefronts to be heard and seen, as well as bring in more traffic for those who already participate with open houses and events.
We welcome any and all who are wanting to spend a day with the public. Currently, we have the VFW Hall reserved for tables to be used, and we will also be blocking off a section of Main Street for larger set-ups. Anyone interested in having a table, booth, stall, etc. is welcome to attend!
And this isn't strictly for businesses-EVERYONE is welcome to participate. We encourage all businesses, livestock associations, crafters, direct sales companies(one per company) or home based business, homemade goodie makers, and community organizations to attend. We also encourage fund-raising, whether it be for a children's group, local organization, upcoming event, or whatever!
Spaces/tables will be $10 each and will run during 10:00am-4:00pm. Set-up may begin at 8:30am.
Please contact BeKa Phipps at 406-557-6178 for questions or reservations.
We will also be putting together a list/map for the town-wide garage sales happening that day. If you would like your own garage sale to be added to the list, please contact Lori Murnion at 406-557-2334.
We hope to see a large turn-out for the event and hope you all can make it. Look for updated information on the day's events in the coming weeks.
Chamber Dinner Held
On New Year's Eve, the Garfield County Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture held their annual dinner and dance at the VFW Hall in Jordan. Eighty-eight people met up for dinner which included Ryan's famous Prime Rib and all of the delicious sides made up by the VFW Ladies. Music followed by the entertaining band, "Those Guys." President Chip Saylor gave a speech after plates were cleaned and mentioned all of the hard work and activities the Chamber had been involved in over the year, including rebuilding the rodeo arena at the Fairgrounds, the annual Cow Pasture Golf Tournament, and new activities during the Christmas Stroll.
He gave a long list of thank yous to individuals who had given their time and energy to these projects. Chip also presented Keith and Karmie Lockie of Jordan with embroidered jackets for their time spent on the Jordan Matched Bronc Ride over the years.
The speech also included a surprise award, given annually to outstanding members of the community. This year it was presented to Rick and Earline Lawrence of Jordan. Chip gave a heartfelt speech about the influence the Lawrences' have made on the people and lives of Garfield County. They were awarded with a plaque.
The Chamber holds their annual meeting directly before the dinner, swearing in new directors and electing officers. Ballots are sent out prior to the dinner, allowing all citizens and businesses of Garfield County the chance to become members of the Chamber and vote in new directors.
Three directors retired this year; three others were reelected back along with three new members. There is still time to become a member of the Chamber. Contact any Chamber director to fill out a membership or use the form found here. Dues are $25 per person and $50 per business ($25 for additional entities filed by the same person.)
